Movie Reviews and Morality

Lalala, I’m killing time while waiting for a phone call and not cleaning or packing.

So my mom, sister and I watched ‘The Invention of Lying’ last night. There were most definitely some really funny parts. I liked all the signs a lot. “A quiet place to think abotu the Man in the Sky.” Very honest. However, one thing that bugged me is that instead of just telling the truth, everyone told WAY too much information. Like, you don’t need to necessarily go out of your way to tell a lady you took a sip out of her drink. Truly? I mean, it’s definitely possible to not lie without telling the whole truth. I guess it’s kind of a different matter of whether or not you’re telling the truth if you aren’t telling the whole truth. And I kind of lie more than I should (my most common lies are definitely, “Yeah, I’m fine!” and, “It’s seriously not that big of a deal,” so I completely fufill that cliche of stupid lies, by the way), but in some ways they’re just…half truths, right? But that still isn’t necessarily the truth.

Something else that bugged me is he got like everything he wanted by lying. That’s not a good policy. If he had been completely honest, yes, he would not have gotten the girl and would’ve ended up homeless (sorry for the spoiler). But it’s a movie. Not to be yet another cliche considering we’ve already had one thus far, but honesty is the best policy, right? Lying does make society run more smoothly- I can’t argue with that. But does it really make it better?

And now I think I’m gonna pretend attempt to clean.
